Recommended Resources

Below you will find the tools you will need to create a system for your blog/business that will make you look professional, boost your productivity, and attract traffic, thus boost engagement and sales (if you sell ?).

[Some of the links (red) below are affiliate links. These are companies/brands I trust along with all the other non-affiliated recommendations. If you purchase following an affiliate link, I’ll receive a commission, FYI. Thank you in advance for supporting me by purchasing via my affiliatre links; I appreciate you very much!]

I suggest bloggers and entrepreneurs own their websites with the self-hosted WordPress platform.

Get Domain

Namecheap [affiliate link]

I suggest you get your domain from a company that is not your hosting company. I personally own a few of my domains through NameCheap and they have been great so far. All the domains purchased through Namecheap come with basic privacy protection, so, if you’re on a budget, it’s a great add-on to have without the extra cost.

Get Hosting

SiteGround [affiliate link]

In my capacity as a web designer/developer, I have had the pleasure (or the opposite) of working with quite a few hosting companies over time. Needless to say, SiteGround had the best bang for the buck. All SiteGround domains have basic SSL certificate option via Let’s Encrypt for FREE! And get this! They now have Wildcard SSL FOR FREE! Meaning, not just the primary domain, but all subdomains will now have free SSL.

No extra or hidden cost and they have THE BEST customer service EVER!

WordPress Plugins

These are the absolute essential plugins any WordPress user must have:

  1. Anti-Spam – for detecting spam comments.
  2. WordFence Security – for securing your website from brute-force attacks and malware.
  3. UpDraft Plus – for automatically backing up your content and database.
  4. Yoast – for policing SEO
  5. WP Smush – for optimizing and compressing image files.
  6. WP-Optimize – for optimizing backend and database.
  7. Sassy Social Share – for sharing blog posts.
  8. Media Cleaner – for removing media files that are not in use.
  9. Contact Form 7 – for embedding forms.
  10. WP Super Cache – caching plugin to make your site load faster.

ConvertKit [affiliate link]

I did not even feel like doing anything with my email list until I moved over to ConvertKit. They are the best out there for bloggers and entrepreneurs! You can create as many different groups as you want with some simple rules in place with just a few clicks! Email marketing… SIMPLIFIED!
